Dr. Shapir has been a psychologist for more than 25 years and sat on the Board of the Suffolk County Psychological Association 2017-2021. She earned her doctorate from Yeshiva University and trained at Cornell Medical Center, Bronx Children’s Psychiatric Hospital and The Center For Preventive Psychiatry. She treats adolescents, young adults, and adults with such issues as anxiety, bereavement, depression, trauma, chronic and terminal illness, medical issues, trichotillomania, skin picking disorder, ADHD, LGBQ issues, parenting, stepfamilies, coping after divorce, women’s issues, school-related issues, and college transition.

Dr. Shapir utilizes a variety of modalities including Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Comprehensive Behavioral Model (ComB), Behavioral Therapy and Social Skills Training. She tailors the most appropriate treatment to the patient based upon the individual’s needs.
